Cat has weak hind legs?
10 year old cat. Her hind legs have been seeming weaker and weaker over the last 2 weeks. She can’t even jump on the bed any more, she used to be a very avid climber. We took her to the vet and she couldn’t find anything wrong.
She has a good appetite but seems to be more and more tired.
Maybe you should give her a week to see if she doesn’t improve. But if she doesn’t, then I would get a second opinion, or consult with a specialist. Perhaps your vet can recommend one. Or possibly you can find one on your own or through a second vet. If you find someone who is not local, you can forward them your cat’s records for review. Or have diagnostic tests they might recommend.
This can be a spinal cord problem or a neurological problem, but of course it can be lots of things. I am no expert, but I have seen a dog (not a cat) with a similar problem, and the diagnosis was not something you would want to hear. But that is just one instance, and this might be something chronic but not awful. Still, you need to know. Ten years is nowhere near old for a cat.
